Functional Safety Engineer

TEXA S.p.A. e-Powertrain is currently seeking a:  Functional Safety Engineer to be responsible for defining the safety characteristics of Company products to meet the requirements of the Functional Safety Standard ISO 26262. Key Responsibilities: Define Functional Safety requirements for products at system level (Technical Safety Requirements), hardware, and software; Collaborate with hardware and software specialists to define product architectures; Collaborate with Functional Safety Engineers to customize solutions; Conduct Safety analysis (FMEA, FTA, Dependent failure analysis); Define hardware and software test and verification specifications, as well as system and hardware/software qualification criteria; Participate in technical reviews of Functional Safety products; Collaborate with other departments (Product Lines, Hardware Development, Software Development, Software Validation, Quality, Production, Purchasing) to coordinate the implementation of Functional Safety content on products; Define and develop activities to eliminate/prevent product safety defects. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of ISO 26262 standard; Familiarity with FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) methodology; Understanding of FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) methodology; Proficiency in DOORS; Familiarity with Matlab-Simulink-Stateflow; Proficiency in ASCET; Proficiency in C++ software programming language; Understanding of ISO 26262 standard concepts, definitions, and approach to verifying the safety of integrated electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems (hardware/software); Understanding of Safety Life Cycle concepts and dedicated vocabulary as outlined in ISO 26262 standard; Knowledge of analysis methods; Ability to interact in a specialised manner with suppliers and clients regarding Functional Safety; Knowledge of specific risk assessment methodologies; Knowledge of the main reference tools related to the IATF Standard; Ability to identify and manage critical characteristics. Education: Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering or equivalent. Experience: Minimal experience in the role. Language: Fluent in English. Mindset and Interpersonal Skills: Methodical and precise approach; Problem-solving skills; Strong attention to detail while keeping sight of overall objectives, product/technology goals, and development timelines; Good communication and collaboration skills with all areas of the company; Ability to analyse potential functional safety issues with new products to be developed; Ability to securely manage strategic/critical information, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information whether in written, verbal, or electronic/information technology format; Ability to operate securely with TEXA's and/or clients' prototypes, equipment, and tools; Ability to operate while ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of the process with a focus on continuous improvement; Adoption of a Risk-Based Thinking approach for the product and process based on FMEA technique.
