The Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel belonging to Marriott International, is currently recruiting for an Event Service Expert - Event Coordinator.

The Event Service Expert will report to the Events Manager and she/he will be part of the Event department.

What you’ll do

Guest Relations

  • Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest's name when possible; thank guests with genuine appreciation and provide a fond farewell.
  • Address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.
  • Actively listen and respond positively to guest questions, concerns, and requests using brand or property specific process to resolve issues, delight, and build trust.
  • Assist other employees to ensure proper coverage and prompt guest service.
  • Anticipate guests' service needs, including asking questions of guests to better understand their needs and watching/listening to guest preferences and acting on them whenever possible.
  • Engage guests in conversation regarding their stay, property services, and area attractions/offerings.
  • Ensure place settings are appropriate and each guest has a napkin, clean silverware, and any other item that is part of the standard place setting.

General Food and Beverage Services

  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests in the BEO.
  • Verify that tables are set according to type of event and service standards, including types of linens, glassware, plate/chinaware, and silver/flatware, ensuring all supplies meet quality standards.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as requested

Banquet Room Set-up

  • Ensure coffee breaks, carts, and stations are prepared with appropriate food and beverages as stated in Banquet Event Order.
  • Work with kitchen-banquet maître-stewarding for defining and have tables, action stations, buffets, service carts, dessert table/carts and cordial carts prepared with specified tools, wares and equipment according to company standards.
  • Work with Engineering and IT team to set up, operate, and troubleshoot audio-visual (AV), projection, lighting, and conferencing equipment, devices, and systems, ensuring all equipment is operational prior to use.

Banquets

  • Respond to and try to fulfill any special banquet event arrangements requested by guest.
  • Make sure buffet items to ensure consistency and freshness in presentation from opening to closing.
  • Follow up on special banquet event arrangements requested by guest to ensure compliance.
  • Assist and instruct guests/customers regarding proper usage and operation of AV equipment and Internet.

Bartending

  • Follow all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly (e.g., last call times).
  • Document and communicate any incidents/accidents immediately to management and Loss Prevention during shift or event.
  • Make sure that ice, glassware, paper supplies and liquor are stocked and re-stocked prior and during the execution of an Event
  • Identify with Bar Manager and Purchasing Manager all necessary supplies, specifically bottle-for-bottle liquor restock

Steps of Service

  • Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of assigned tables and work areas including ensuring courses are cleared according to department standards and tables are properly crumbed when appropriate

Communication

  • Talk with and listen to other employees to effectively exchange information.
