Senior Researcher in Energy System Modelling

Short description of the position:

To be employed in a team working on overall energy system modelling and e-mobility on regional, national and European scale. We have opened a position looking for a highly motivated researcher in the field of overall energy system modelling to join our team in Bolzano. The position will involve working as part of a multidisciplinary team in energy system modelling projects and e-mobility to foster the energy transition towards a low carbon society in the Alpine Space and beyond.

Tasks:

• Work in an international environment in partnership with companies, public authorities and universities;
• Elaborate project proposals and lead projects in relevant sectors;
• Perform quantitative analysis;
• Support the drafting and publication of reports;
• Contribute to and write scientific articles;
• Contribute to communication, information and dissemination tasks within the projects.

Requirements:

• Graduate in a related discipline such as engineering, natural sciences, planning;
• Analytical, numerical and problem solving attitude;
• Several years of research or working experience in a related field;
• Knowledge of different energy system modelling tools with high temporal resolution and sector coupling;
• Knowledge of database management;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, e.g. drafting reports, elaborating scientific publications and delivering presentations to audiences at a variety of levels;
• Readiness for travel;
• A very good command of English (reading, writing and speaking);
• Knowledge of Italian and/or German is an advantage;
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python is an advantage;
