What are we looking for?

  • We have a PYP coordination and 30% teaching role (Primary School) in Vicenza (Northern Italy) for an August 26th, 2024 start date.
  • We are looking for a coordinator (with a teaching role) with a strong inquiry approach and creative use of new technologies to support learning.

Specific Coordinator Responsibilities (main ones)

  • To liaise with the IBO as an official IB PYP member school.
  • To coordinate all PYP activities and promote the curriculum of the PYP.
  • To be a member of the Pedagogical Leadership Team in the school and to play a significant part in formulating, implementing and reviewing the long-term and short-term school plans and school policies.
  • To attend Coordination and Developmental Team (CDT) Meetings with the other school’s Coordinators.
  • To liaise with their Heads of Programme in the preparation of the school year timetable, lesson timetable, and in the organization of timetabled curriculum planning meetings;
  • To attend regional workshops that have been organised by the IBO, and encourage colleagues to attend regional IB PYP/MYP/DP relevant workshops.
  • To collaborate with their Head to ensure all teachers have a solid understanding of current curricula and/or guidelines.
  • To create a teacher’s professional development plan in collaboration with the Head of Programme and the Head of School.
  • To liaise with the IBO in arranging workshops for the PYP/MYP/DP teachers; to enroll teachers to the IB workshop and to inform the Secretary Office about the courses so that it can book flights and hotels.
  • To collaborate with the Heads of Programme on implementing pedagogical initiatives.
  • To plan, organize and lead, with the Head of Programme, the weekly meetings with the teaching staff.
  • To oversee curriculum review and facilitate curriculum development around the themes of internationalism, holistic awareness, communication and cultural understanding.
  • To promote a positive and professional learning culture.
  • To collaborate with teachers in planning and practice to better support their understanding of the curriculum.

Qualifications

  • At least a bachelor’s degree and teacher qualification (from an accredited, state-approved programme).
  • Right to work in Italy (EU passport or valid Italian work VISA).
  • Immaculate police check(s).

Contract Duration

  • 12-month contract, with possibility for extension.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of recent and relevant PYP Coordinator experience in a comparable school environment or similar leading role.
  • Relevant teaching experience preferably in an IB school.
  • IB examiners will have priority.
  • Specialist skills & knowledge
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver innovative inquiry-based lessons that engage students and address their diverse learning needs;
  • Demonstrated ability to use digital tools and resources effectively to enhance learning;
  • Planning and organisational skills like Michael Burnham (Start Trek) and leadership skills like Aragon (Lord of the Rings)
  • Fluent C2 level English: reading, speaking, writing (Common European Framework of Reference - CEFR).
