Description Provide support to the European Business on Pump/Motor/Control Systems.  Work with the Global Engineering organization on hardware and system specifications, validation and testing of Pump/Motor/Control systems.  This requires a knowledge of electronics and involves understanding and consideration of the interactions and tradeoffs between the different components of a system. Key Responsibilities •      Provide support to field service and customers to understand, configure, and troubleshoot applications using Franklin electronics products •      Understand in detail EMEA specific requirements for Pump Electronics in terms of regulations and market requirements. •      Work with external partners on EMEA specific product designs and developments  •      Work with internal electronics team as well as external partners to leverage global designs to execute and support projects focused on the EMEA market •      Ensure consistency in user interfaces for all Franklin Electric products independently from whether internally or externally developed. •      Execute and document benchmark analysis on competitor products  •      Develop and execute system-oriented validation plans and analyze and report the results  •      Support transition of newly developed electronic products into the production phase •      Participate as a team member in electronic hardware design projects related to variable frequency drives and electronics protection products •      Develop system and component specifications by understanding applications and the interaction of components of a pump, motor and electronic control system •      Drive component tradeoff decisions when necessary to optimize a system •      Perform analysis, calculations, and electronic component selection for electronic designs •      Validate electronic circuits and full electronic controls Skills, Knowledge and Expertise •      Willingness to travel to customer installations both to understand field challenges and to troubleshoot them. •      Good communication skills.  He/she will need to train service personnel and customers on the setup and use of Pump-Motor Control Systems. •      Working knowledge of pumps, motors, and electronic controls and the interactions between each. •      Ability to decompose requirements and realize the building blocks •      Able to develop clearly written technical specifications Able to lead AFMEA/DFMEA processes •      Able to create good documentation to support electronic design and validation activities •      Able to define and execute validation plan for electronic hardware design •      Preferable to have a working knowledge of variable frequency drive control solutions such as V/F, DTC, and FOC •      Able to understand and design power electronic devices (MOSFETS, IGBTS, power transistors and diodes) •      Working experience with analytical tools such as circuit/system modeling and mathematical analysis programs such as PSpice, Mathcad, MATLAB, and Simulink would be an advantage. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE •      Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering  •      5 or more years’ experience in Electronics & Electronic Systems design •      Strong understanding of the operation of motors, pumps, and electronic controls (including variable frequency drives) •      Strong track record and experience of being a self starter and leader Franklin Electric is a global leader in water and energy systems, committed to continuous improvement and innovation to meet the diverse needs of our customers.
